The Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS) has announced the winners of Singapore’s 30 Influential Spatial and Interior Designers Awards. These awards recognise and honour design trailblazers who have transformed the nation’s aesthetic landscape and positioned Singapore as a global design epicentre.
The awards also mark the finale of the Society’s 30th anniversary celebrations, which started last year.
The ceremony was held on the evening of 23 April 2025 at the Mondrian Singapore Duxton in the presence of the Guest-of-Honour Ms Dawn Lim, council members and the advisory board of SIDS, design creatives, and industry partners. The awards are supported by DesignSingapore Council, and Ms Lim, Executive Director of DesignSingapore Council, is one of the jurors.
The recipients were comprised of accredited interior designers across different disciplines and spanned a diverse range of typologies—from residential havens and immersive hospitality experiences, to vibrant restaurants and cutting-edge shopping malls.
Beyond highlighting individual excellence, the prestigious recognition underscores interior design’s profound role in creating a more empathetic and human-centric landscape in response to pressing global realities like climate change and resource depletion.
Coinciding with Singapore’s Diamond Jubilee, this year’s awards prompt reflection on the nation’s deliberate and ongoing evolution as a “Nation by Design”. Reinforcing this ambitious vision, interior and spatial design continue to reimagine and sculpt built environments and influence the way life is experienced.
“The exceptional talents celebrated tonight [embody] the collective strength, creativity, and professionalism of Singapore’s interior design community,” said Mr Nithipong Subaneknan, Chairman of Singapore’s 30 Influential Spatial and Interior Designers Awards and a council member at SIDS. “We are proud to recognise these changemakers who are actively shaping a resilient future through spatial and interior design. They demonstrate the essential role of our industry in solving global challenges.”
The nomination entries were reviewed by a jury of design leaders and experts in the built environment, including Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, Immediate Past President, Group General Manager at City Developments Limited, Ar. Melvin H J Tan, Immediate Past President, Singapore Institute of Architects 64th Council, Deputy Managing Director & Founding Partner at LAUD Architects Pte Ltd, Dr Faris Hajamaideen, Director of the School of Architecture and Built Environment, Senior Director of the Built Environment and Maritime Cluster at Singapore Polytechnic, and the aforementioned Ms Dawn Lim.
In their collective citation, the jury stated, “We saw exceptional interiors that spoke for themselves: spaces that lifted the spirits, with flourishes of creativity and clarity of purpose. Each one was a reminder that great design is transformative. Many are advancing sustainable design practices such as adaptive reuse and responsible material choices, signalling an understanding that interior design plays a crucial role in shaping not just individual experiences but also the broader social and environmental context.”
